Aluminium from the UAE goes into cars, aircraft, buildings and drink cans around the world, and most of it is made by one company. If you have experience in heavy industry, Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) plant jobs are among the most sought-after industrial roles in the country.
EGA runs two giant smelter sites: Jebel Ali in Dubai and Al Taweelah in Abu Dhabi, where it also operates the UAE’s alumina refinery. These sites include potlines, carbon plants, casthouses, power stations and port facilities, and they need operators, technicians, crane operators and engineers around the clock.
This guide is independent and not the official EGA website. EGA hires regularly through its own careers portal, and new plant openings appear there throughout the year. Instead of chasing “just opened” messages on social media, this guide explains which roles EGA recruits for, indicative pay, eligibility and how to find and apply for current openings yourself.

About Emirates Global Aluminium
EGA was formed by combining Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL) and Emirates Aluminium (EMAL), and is jointly owned by Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Investment Company and Investment Corporation of Dubai. It is one of the world’s largest producers of premium aluminium and the biggest industrial company in the UAE outside oil and gas.
Beyond its UAE smelters, EGA has a bauxite mining business in Guinea and has expanded into aluminium recycling. In the UAE, its sites are almost like small industrial cities, with their own power generation, carbon anode plants, potlines, casthouses and logistics, which is why the range of technical jobs is so wide.
Types of Jobs at EGA
Field / Potline Operator
Works in the reduction potlines, monitoring cells, handling anode changes, tapping metal and following strict heat and safety procedures.

Overhead / Pot Tending Crane Operator
Operates specialised cranes that move anodes, metal crucibles and heavy loads inside the potrooms and casthouses.

Can Indians and Other Foreign Workers Apply?
Yes. EGA’s workforce includes people from dozens of nationalities, and India has historically been one of the largest sources of skilled staff at the Jebel Ali and Al Taweelah smelters. You can join only after EGA obtains your MOHRE work permit and arranges the entry permit, medical, residence visa and Emirates ID. An offer letter does not equal a visa.
EGA also runs Emiratisation programmes, including national trainee schemes in operations that are open only to UAE nationals. When you browse the careers portal, read each posting carefully; if it says “National” or “UAE Nationals only”, expatriates should not apply. Experienced expatriate operators and technicians are hired against roles that are open to all nationalities.
