Every few months a new wave of posts claims “Dubai RTA hiring drivers again”. The truth is simpler and more useful: Dubai’s transport sector needs drivers all the time. New bus routes, a growing taxi fleet and busy hotel and airport limousine services mean bus, taxi and limo driver roles keep coming up. This guide on Dubai RTA Hiring Drivers compares the three tracks side by side so you can choose the one that fits your licence, experience and earning goals.
RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) regulates and plans Dubai’s transport, but the people who hire drivers are a mix of employers: RTA and its contracted bus operators for public buses, Dubai Taxi Company and private franchise operators for taxis, and DTC plus licensed limousine companies for limo work. In 2026 DTC completed the acquisition of National Taxi in Abu Dhabi and now runs more than 9,500 cabs across the UAE – one sign of how much driver demand there is.
We are not announcing a specific live vacancy here. Instead, we explain which employers regularly recruit, what each driving job pays, and how to apply without getting cheated.

About Driver Hiring in Dubai
Dubai’s transport system includes public buses, Metro, Tram, taxis, limousines, marine transport and e-hailing. RTA sets the rules – fares, vehicle standards, driver permits and training requirements – while operators run the fleets and employ most drivers.
That is why the same “RTA driver job” can mean very different things. A public bus driver may be on a fixed salary with shift allowances; a taxi driver is usually on commission; a limo driver often gets a basic salary plus incentives. Understanding these differences before you apply saves you from unrealistic expectations.
Types of Driver Vacancies: Bus, Taxi and Limo
1. Public Bus Driver
Fixed routes and timetables, steady pay. Needs a UAE heavy bus licence, which Indian drivers usually have to obtain through an RTA-approved driving institute.
2. School and Staff Bus Driver
Predictable schedules with school or company routes. A common entry point for drivers new to Dubai.
3. Taxi Driver
Largest volume of hiring. Earnings come from a share of fares, so effort and smart shift use matter. Requires a UAE licence and RTA taxi permit.
4. Limousine Driver
Premium cars for airports, hotels and corporate clients. Grooming, English and route knowledge are key.
5. Delivery Bike Rider
DTC and others run last-mile delivery fleets. Needs a UAE motorcycle licence; pay is often per order or per shift.
6. Fleet Car Washer / Helper
Non-driving depot jobs, often through contractors, for people who do not yet have a UAE licence.
Driver Salary in Dubai 2026 – Bus vs Taxi vs Limo
| Position | Indicative Monthly Salary / Earnings (AED, approx ₹) |
|---|---|
| Fleet Car Washer / Helper | AED 1,000 – 1,800 (approx ₹24,000 – 43,000) |
| School Bus Driver | AED 2,500 – 3,200 (approx ₹60,000 – 77,000) |
| Delivery Bike Rider | AED 2,500 – 4,000 (approx ₹60,000 – 96,000) |
| Heavy / Public Bus Driver | AED 3,000 – 5,000 (approx ₹72,000 – 1,20,000) |
| Taxi Driver | AED 3,000 – 5,000 (approx ₹72,000 – 1,20,000), commission based |
| Limousine Driver | AED 3,500 – 6,000 (approx ₹84,000 – 1,44,000) |
These are indicative ranges, not official RTA or operator pay. Bus jobs tend to be more predictable, taxi income swings with hours and season, and limo pay depends on clients and incentives. Rupee values are approximate at ₹24 per AED.
Can Indians and Other Foreign Workers Apply?
Yes. Drivers from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Africa fill most of these jobs. A job offer, though, is not a visa – the hiring company must sponsor your MOHRE work permit and residence visa. Don’t assume sponsorship from an advert or a WhatsApp forward.
Your licence decides which track is fastest. An Indian car licence can generally be exchanged for a UAE car licence once you are a resident, which helps for taxi and limo jobs (taxi drivers also need an RTA permit). Indian heavy and bus licences generally cannot be exchanged, so bus drivers usually train and test at an RTA-approved institute such as Emirates Driving Institute. Rules and fees can change; check with RTA. UAE law bans recruitment fees for workers.
Training for Bus, Taxi and Limo Drivers
Each track has its own training route.
Bus Drivers
UAE heavy bus licence course and RTA tests, then employer route and ticketing induction.
Taxi Drivers
UAE licence (by exchange or training) plus RTA taxi driver course covering fares, meters, rules and customer service.
Limousine Drivers
Licence plus company training on etiquette, VIP service, airport procedures and vehicle care.
