Maruti Suzuki’s trainee workman hiring, commonly referred to as FTE (Fixed Term Employee) recruitment, is one of its largest ITI-linked hiring tracks, run through campus placement drives at Government ITIs across several states, including recent drives for the Kharkhoda plant.
Maruti Suzuki’s Workmen Hiring Pipeline
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) runs manufacturing operations out of Gurugram and Manesar in Haryana, the newer Kharkhoda plant in Sonipat district (Haryana), which began production in early 2025 and has pushed group capacity toward roughly 26 lakh vehicles a year, and the Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG) facility near Hansalpur/Becharaji in Gujarat, which manufactures vehicles and components for the group.
Openings are generally announced through Maruti Suzuki’s own corporate careers pages, campus placement drives run jointly with Government ITIs and polytechnics, and recruitment platforms the company has used for specific drives, such as Zappyhire-based registration for Kharkhoda plant trainee positions. Listings also get aggregated on general job portals. Candidates should always cross-check any vacancy against the official notice before sharing documents, and should never pay an individual or agent for a job offer.
ITI Trades Typically Covered
Published campus placement notices for trainee workman/FTE roles have listed trades such as:
- Fitter, Diesel Mechanic and Mechanic Motor Vehicle (MMV)
- Welder, Turner and Machinist
- Tool and Die Maker, Painter and Sheet Metal Worker
- Mechanic Auto Body Repair and Painting, Mechanic Tractor and PPO
Eligibility for Workmen / FTE Hiring
- Minimum education varies by role: 10th or 12th pass for entry-level support positions, a recognised ITI certificate (NCVT/SCVT) in a relevant trade for workmen/technician roles, a diploma in a relevant engineering stream for technician-trainee roles, and a BE/B.Tech (or higher) for Graduate/Post-Graduate Engineer Trainee roles.
- Age limits are set separately for each drive; ITI-based trainee workmen drives have commonly specified a band of roughly 18 to 25 years and 9 months at the time of a given campus placement.
- A minimum aggregate percentage (commonly cited around 40% for 10th-pass-linked trades, and higher, often 60-65%, for diploma/degree-linked engineering trainee drives) is typically required; exact cut-offs are set drive by drive.
- Physical fitness for shop-floor and shift-based work, and a medical fitness check during the selection process, are standard requirements for plant-based roles.
- Willingness to work rotational shifts and, for many roles, willingness to relocate to or near Gurugram, Manesar, Kharkhoda, or the Gujarat plant cluster.

Tips for ITI Candidates Applying as Workmen
- Apply only through the official notice or platform named for that specific drive, and verify the source before submitting any personal documents.
- Keep ITI/diploma/degree mark sheets, certificates and a valid photo ID ready in digital form before you start the online application.
- Revise basic trade theory (for ITI/diploma roles) or core mechanical/electrical/industrial engineering fundamentals (for engineering trainee roles), since written and technical tests are a standard part of selection.
- Be ready to discuss shift flexibility and relocation to the plant location named in the notice.
- Never pay any individual, agent or website for a job offer, interview call letter or placement guarantee at Maruti Suzuki.
Why ITI Candidates Target This Track
Trainee workman/FTE hiring is the most direct route from an ITI certificate into a large automotive plant, with a defined trade-wise intake each drive.
Reported pay of roughly ₹28,300 to ₹32,000 a month, along with PF, ESI and canteen/uniform benefits, makes it a closely watched track among ITI pass-outs.
