If you are planning a supermarket job in the UAE, two names come up again and again: Carrefour and Lulu. Both run big hypermarkets and smaller neighbourhood stores in almost every emirate, and both hire thousands of cashiers, salesmen, helpers and fresh food workers. But they are very different employers, and the right choice depends on your experience, your language skills and how you want to apply.
This guide on Carrefour & Lulu Recruitment 2026 puts the two chains side by side – who owns them, what stores they run, which jobs they offer, how pay compares, what shifts and benefits look like, and which one usually suits freshers better. It is written for Indian and South Asian job seekers who want an honest comparison before applying.
This is an independent guide and is not linked to Carrefour, Majid Al Futtaim or Lulu. Both chains hire on a regular basis. Use only their official careers channels to find current openings, and never pay anyone for a supermarket job.

About Carrefour and Lulu in the UAE
Carrefour is a French brand, but in the UAE its stores are run by Dubai-based Majid Al Futtaim, the same group behind City Centre malls, Mall of the Emirates and VOX Cinemas. In 2025 Majid Al Futtaim replaced Carrefour with its own HyperMax brand in markets such as Jordan, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait, but it said it intends to keep the Carrefour name in the UAE, and the franchise agreement was renewed. In 2026 it also opened a premium Carrefour Market concept in Dubai, showing the brand is still growing here.
Lulu began in Abu Dhabi and was built by Indian-born entrepreneur M.A. Yusuff Ali. Its Gulf retail arm, Lulu Retail Holdings, is listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, and the UAE is its biggest market. Lulu is known for a very large South Asian workforce, in-store food production and strong links with Kerala, which is why many Indian job seekers think of Lulu first.
Types of Jobs at Carrefour and Lulu
Cashier (Both Chains)
The most common front-end job. Carrefour cashiers also support self-checkout lanes and the SHARE rewards programme, while Lulu cashiers handle the Lulu Happiness loyalty offers and very busy weekend counters.
Salesman / Sales Associate
Lulu still uses the title “salesman” for many floor roles in grocery, garments and electronics. Carrefour usually calls the same work “sales associate” and expects slightly stronger spoken English.
Helper and Stocker
Lulu helpers move goods, fill shelves and collect trolleys. Carrefour stockers do similar work but often on early-morning or night replenishment shifts.
Online Order Picker
This role is more visible at Carrefour, which runs a large online grocery and quick delivery operation. Pickers use handheld devices to collect and pack orders. Lulu also runs online shopping, but most of its hiring is still for store floor roles.
Butcher, Fish Cutter and Baker
Both chains hire skilled fresh food staff. Lulu has a reputation for large in-store bakeries and hot food sections with Indian and Arabic items, so it hires many food trade workers.
Storekeeper and Receiving Clerk
Back-store staff check supplier deliveries, quantities and expiry dates and update the stock system.
Supervisor / Team Leader
Lulu calls them department supervisors; Carrefour calls them team leaders or section supervisors. Both manage a team, displays, stock and sales.
Carrefour vs Lulu UAE Salary 2026
| Position | Indicative Monthly Salary (AED, approx ₹) |
|---|---|

| Lulu Helper / Store Assistant | AED 1,000 – 1,600 (approx ₹24,000 – ₹38,000) |
| Carrefour Stocker / Shelf Filler | AED 1,500 – 2,300 (approx ₹36,000 – ₹55,000) |
| Lulu Salesman | AED 1,400 – 2,300 (approx ₹34,000 – ₹55,000) |
| Carrefour Sales Associate | AED 2,000 – 3,000 (approx ₹48,000 – ₹72,000) |
| Lulu Cashier | AED 1,500 – 2,500 (approx ₹36,000 – ₹60,000) |
| Carrefour Cashier | AED 1,800 – 2,800 (approx ₹43,000 – ₹67,000) |

| Supervisor / Team Leader (either chain) | AED 3,000 – 5,500 (approx ₹72,000 – ₹1,32,000) |
These are indicative figures, not official pay scales. Carrefour’s cash salary often looks a little higher, but Lulu packages for store staff more often include shared accommodation, transport and sometimes food, which can close the gap. Compare the total package – salary, housing, transport, overtime and leave ticket – before deciding.

Can Indians and Other Foreign Workers Apply?
Yes. Both chains employ large numbers of Indians, along with workers from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, the Philippines, Egypt and Africa. In each case the employer – Majid Al Futtaim or Lulu – applies for the MOHRE work permit and residence visa. A selection email or offer letter is not a visa, and you should not travel until the visa is issued.
Both are large private employers, so Emiratisation targets apply and some office or management roles may be reserved for UAE nationals. Frontline store jobs are generally open to all nationalities, but never assume visa sponsorship – the job post and offer letter will say. UAE rules also do not allow recruitment costs to be passed on to the worker.
Training at Carrefour and Lulu
Neither chain expects you to know everything on day one. Both train new staff on the job, but the style differs.
Carrefour: Structured Induction
Carrefour joiners usually go through a formal induction on store layout, safety and service, followed by POS, SHARE rewards and handheld device training. Majid Al Futtaim also runs internal learning programmes for staff who want to move up.
Lulu: Learning on the Floor
At Lulu, new cashiers and salesmen often learn by working beside a senior colleague, with a strong focus on speed, accuracy and courtesy during rush hours.
Food Safety at Both
Butchers, bakers and food handlers at both chains must follow municipality hygiene rules and may need basic food safety training.

Beware of Fake Job Offers
Carrefour and Lulu are two of the most misused names in UAE job scams. Fake posts promise “direct Dubai supermarket visa” and then ask for registration, medical or visa money.
- Neither chain charges fees for jobs, interviews or visas
- Check that emails come from the employer’s official domain, not free email IDs
- Do not trust WhatsApp-only “HR managers”
- Verify Indian recruiting agents on the MEA eMigrate portal
- Report fraud at cybercrime.gov.in
